May 2022 | No confidence in the working committee

  • Statement:
“I agree to remove individual members of the Working Committee from office through this current RA decision-making process, given their failure to ‘assist’ and ‘represent’ the Residents’ Assembly as stated in their mandate. If more than 50% of voters agree that a member is to be removed, the term of that member ends with immediate effect.
I agree that any remaining members of the Working Committee will continue in office and can choose to appoint interim members. They can only do so in consultation with the Auroville Council.
These interim members can only be chosen from members of previous Working Committees. The term of the interim Working Committee members shall be until the next RA-approved Selection Process has been held, and new Working Committee members have been selected.
In the unlikely event that all Working Committee members are dismissed, the three Working Committee members who have the most votes to stay on will remain, as interim members, until the next RA-approved selection process”.

  • 92% (798) Aurovilians voted in favour of the above proposal.
  • 8% (66) Aurovilians rejected it, and their votes have been counted as “no member to be dismissed”.

January 2022 | Pause clearing and development

  • Statement:
“To pause all clearing, infrastructure laying and permanent construction work on the Right of Ways of Crown, Radials and Outer Ring in order to enable the community to define a way forward for Auroville’s development, following:
The outcome shall be approved through a ratified Residents’ Assembly Decision-making process, before the above specified clearing, infrastructure laying and permanent construction work resumes”.

  • Quorum: 243
  • Result:
  • 89% (803) Aurovilians supported the above proposal.
  • 11% (96) Aurovilians DID NOT support it.

“I agree that the Provisional RAD Process can be used until a new RAD process is in place (stated intention within 9 months)”

May 2017 | Proposal to restructure the Town Development Council (TDC)

  • Voters: 243
  • Result: 196 votes in support (81%), 47 votes against.
→ The proposal is ratified. It includes three parts:
  1. A set of Planning Principles to guide the way that we plan;
  2. A new way of organising the Town Development Council (TDC)/L'avenir; and
  3. A Terms of Reference to help planners work.
