Play of Painting
Play of Painting sessions allow children and adults to express themselves through painting in a non-judgmental environment. Play of Painting is inspired by the work of educator Arno Stern, and developed through his work all over the world. It has been practised in Auroville since 2003, and is today used in many Auroville schools.
Play of Painting was first practiced in the Center Field Kindergarten and at Transition School where two dedicated spaces were created (Transition’s studio was relocated to the Nandanam campus in 2009). In order to respond to an increasing demand for this activity, Sandrine and Claire invited Arno Stern to come to Auroville in March 2007. He gave a one-week workshop, through which 40 people were trained to facilitate Play of Painting. Afterward Udavi School built the first space specially designed for Play of Painting.
