(Sri Aurobindo, The Life Divine:) “This play of all in each and each in all is concealed at first from us by the mental play or the illusion of Maya which persuades each that he is in all but not all in him and that he is in all as a separated being not as a being always inseparably one with the rest of existence. Afterwards we have to emerge from this error into the supramental play or the truth of Maya where the ‘each’ and the ‘all’ coexist in the inseparable unity of the one truth and the multiple symbol. The lower, present and deluding mental Maya has first to be embraced, then to be overcome; for it is God’s play with division and darkness and limitation, desire and strife and suffering in which He subjects Himself to the Force that has come out of Himself and by her obscure suffers Himself to be obscured. That other Maya concealed by this mental has to be overpassed, then embraced; for it is God’s play of the infinities of existence, the splendours of knowledge, the glories of force mastered and the ecstasies of love illimitable where He emerges out of the hold of Force, holds her instead and fulfils in her illumined that for which she went out from Him at the first.
This distinction between the lower and the higher Maya is the link in thought and in cosmic Fact which the pessimistic and illusionist philosophies miss or neglect.”[1]

(Mother to Satprem, 1960:) “A few days ago, I recall, I wanted to know something that was going to happen. I thought that with the consciousness of supramental time, I could find out ... “I MUST find out what's going to happen. What's going to happen?” – No answer. So I concentrated on it, which is what I usually do, I stopped everything and looked from above – total silence. Nothing. No answer. And I felt a slight impatience: “But why can't I know?!” And what came was the equivalent of (I'm translating it in words), “It's none of your business!!”
So I understand more and more. Everything – this whole organization, this whole aggregate, all these cells and nerves and sensors – are all meant uniquely for the work, they have no other purpose than the work; every foolish act that is done is for the work; every stupidity that is thought is for the work; you are made the way you are because only in that way can you do the work – and it's none of your business to seek to be somewhere else. That's my conclusion. “Very well, as You wish, may Your will be done!” – No, not ‘be done’; it IS done. As You wish, exactly as You wish!
And in the end, it's quite fun.”[2]

(Mona Sarkar:) “It is Thou who givest me my prayer, it is Thou who prayest for me, it is Thou who accordest me the marvellous Grace, and as it is Thou who hast willed it, it is already realised... What, then, Mother, is this game?

(Mother:) It is the universal game and it will be perfectly harmonious when men will have understood it!
         ...
That is the game. It is the universal game and it is the motivating force, it is this that moves the universe.
It is exactly like that. It is the truth.

So, if it is You who have willed it, it is already done...

Yes, it is already realised, only you are not conscious of it...
This is the game, and until man understands what it is that moves him, it will not be realised.
I have written ‘when men will have understood it’, and until they become conscious of this fact that it is He who accords them this marvellous Grace, that it is He who prays for you and it is also He who gives you the prayer, until men understand this, men will always be in doubt and this will remain a mystery to them.
But when men will have understood, he will see that all is harmonious, that all is in its place and that all is progressing towards Him. It is He who is the motivating force. There is no imbalance, no vexations. All is harmonious.
When man will have attained this consciousness he will see that everything is happening as it should.
But now, it is not smooth; it is noisy, there is resistance. It is not in harmony – that is why man does not yet understand.
But it is something so evident, absolutely harmonious, this universal game, when man will have established this contact.
It is this that is missing, that is the reason for his present condition, what one sees.

But, Mother, if it is He who wills it, then it is already realised, because for Him to will is to realise.

Yes, but man must at least understand what it is. Man is still in obscurity.

But, Mother, He can make man understand.

But man does not collaborate. Men are still not conscious, they understand nothing.
I used the word ‘understand’ intentionally, because when you have this consciousness or this knowledge, you will see that everything is in its place and follows a specific rule, the rule of the beyond, perfectly harmonious. When you will have found that, you will see the difference....
Somewhere it is already realised, one must become conscious of it, until the cells feel it and understand.
To become conscious of this game everywhere in the being... then one sees that everything is perfectly harmonious. There is nothing that is out of place, because it is He who is behind everything, and it is He himself who leads each event, guides each moment in the creation.
So, there is only peace and light and harmony.
When you become conscious of it, you will see what it is.”[3]
