Aurore

AURORE (Auroville Renewable Energy) history: right from its inception in 1968, the Aurovilians adopted renewable energy technologies. Today Auroville is a vast demonstration site for the application of renewable energy technologies.

AURORE is located at the Centre for Scientific Research (CSR), which has been pioneering various renewable energy technologies since 1984, including solar water pumping systems, home lighting kits, solar water heaters, PV power plants, biogas plants, wind pumps and hybrid wind-solar systems. CSR, having experimented with different renewable energy technologies, decided in 1998 to promote the AURORE Trust for commercial applications of matured technologies.
