2013 Center Field Kindergarten 2.jpg

The Kindergarten in Center Field started in 1986. The compound which stands today is large and airy, shaped like a cross with four classrooms, a dining room, a Blocks room, and a Play of Painting room, all surrounded by a large activity area.

The Kindergarten provides for 60 children in 4 groups. The Yellow group is composed of children from 2 ½ to 3 ½ years old, the Orange group of children from 3 ½ to 4 ½ years old, the Blue group of children from 4 ½ to 5 ½ years old and the Green group of children from 5 ½ to 6 ½ years old. For each group there is a main teacher and an assistant. When the children of the Blue group graduate and leave the school, 15 new students are accepted to form a new Yellow group, and the cycle goes on.

In the rhythm of the day, the Kindergarten alternates between rigorous activity and quiet activity, directed activity and free choice activity. The aim is to develop the whole child, to develop concentration and each of the senses, while at the same time keeping a balance between meeting the needs of each child and meeting the needs of the group. Children have opportunities for self-expression and the exploration of their own interests, but at the same time they are expected to be considerate toward others, to respect the environment, to participate and to share.
