Instructions on setting a new Auroville email account in Windows Mail (in Windows Vista)
Configure your auroville.org.in email account for the first time in Windows Mail on your PC running Windows Vista.
Account username / email address : username@auroville.org.in (example)
Incoming mail server (POP) : pop.auroville.org.in Port : 110
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.auroville.org.in Port : 25
Alternate Outgoing mail server ports : 587
(Please make sure there are no spaces or typing mistakes in your username, password or the server names)
Start <Mail> from the Start Menu,
If you are prompted to enter‘Your Name’ as show in image 2, then skip to step 2
Step 1 (image 1, 1a, 1b)
Go to >Tools > Accounts as shown in image 1

Click <Add> as shown in image 1a

Select Account Type > E-mail Account as show in image 1b and click <Next>

Fill in your ‘Full Name’ as shown in image 2 and click <Next>

Fill in your email address as shown in image 3

Fill in the following information as shown in image 4 and click <Next>
Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server : pop.auroville.org.in
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server : smtp.auroville.org.in
Outgoing server requires authentication : ticked on

Fill in your E-mail username and password as shown in image 5
Click ‘Remember password’ ON so you don’t need to type the password every time you check your email.
Click<Next>

Tick ON ‘Do not download my e-mail at this time’ and click <Finish> as shown in image 5a

Go to >Tools >Accounts as shown in image 6

Select your Auroville email account and click <Properties> as shown in image 7

Click the ‘Advanced’ tab as shown in image 8 and set the following as shown in image 8
- Leave a copy of messages on server (lets you leave a copy of the email on the server so you may download the same email on another computer or view it using webmail access through a web browser e.g. Safari or Firefox)
- Remove from server after <XX> days (set the number of days after which the email is deleted automatically from the server)
- Remove from server when deleted from ‘Deleted Items’ (deletes a specific email from server when deleted from Windows Mail)
Click <OK> and close the properties box.
Click <Close> and close the Internet Accounts box.
