Mitra Youth Hostel

This project was created to provide better accommodation facilities for students who wish to stay in Auroville to fulfill their educational needs. It started functioning in 2006 with the help of generous grant in aid from SAIIER.

Mitra Youth Hostel is a two storey building located at the center of Auroville, behind Town Hall, about 200m away from Matrimandir.

The students stay in single rooms with attached bathroom & toilet and double rooms with common bathrooms & toilets for the floor.

We have a conference hall which can be used to conduct any group meetings. We also have a small library with books about Auroville and Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Wi-Fi internet facilities are available. We have a common kitchen that provides breakfast and dinner.

Mitra hosts students from various countries around the world, thus maintaining the international character of Auroville.
