General Information and Background
News & Notes is a weekly publication that carries information from trusted sources within Auroville. The News copies are distributed in every community and offered free of charge to all Aurovilians and Newcomers. Volume of publication varies – expanding from November to April, and also in August. The monthly budget (one-third of which goes toward the salaries of the printers and messenger) is not enough to cover all expenses so News & Notes takes on occasional printing jobs (on payment of Rs 450 per page).

Members and Affiliations
Since 2006, the News & Notes editorial team consists of Pascal (full-time) and Abha P. (part-time). Annemarie (who works in an advisory capacity) also fills in during the absence of one of the two editors. Former editors include Adhara, Ritam, Annemarie, and Suzie.
The team is assisted by Jayamoorthy and Arumugam who are the printers and Krishnamurthy, the messenger. The News & Notes team monitors the Messenger Service and the “Lost & Found” service.
Aims and Objectives
The News & Notes aims to provide the community of Auroville with a high quality forum to share current news and issues, ideas and offerings, about what is happening in Auroville during the week. Recently there has been an interest in reducing the printed-on-paper versions in favour of soft copies, available via email. But the majority of residents still find the paper version preferable. Approximately 850 copies of the publication are printed and distributed each week.
