General Information and Background
NESS is a secondary program for students in 9th-12th standards, which will provide an innovative secondary/higher secondary educational program for students of Auroville and its surrounding communities. Achieving the goals of academic excellence combined with the ideals of an integral development of the whole person, in the context of Auroville's ideal of human unity and its international milieu, NESS will contribute substantially to the aims of education in Auroville and educational reform in India.
Members and Affiliations
We hired five qualified, post-graduate teachers for the core subjects with 45 students.
Aims and Objectives
Formal application for affiliation with the CBSE was made in 2007 in order to provide the highest quality of education, recognized by the Government of India for admission to schools of higher education, in the context of Auroville's rural community. This program aims to provide the opportunity for students and parents to remain in Auroville, who might otherwise choose to go elsewhere for secondary studies and for the sake of certificates, or to live elsewhere rather than join Auroville.
