The Auroville Library, located on the Crown Road near the Solar Kitchen, is Auroville's largest and main library. It houses more than 50,000 books in ten languages: English, German, French, Tamil, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Spanish, Korean, and Hebrew.

The Auroville Library is free to use for Aurovilians, guests and workers. Books in the Library are organized by language and then by topic. Books include a wide range of fiction and non-fiction and an almost complete collection of Sri Aurobindo's and Mother's works. There is a separate children's library room where children can read, talk, and play without disturbing the peace of the main Library.
