General Information and Background

Auroville Health Services is a non profit unit of Auroville foundation working in the area of preventative health care, awareness and health education. We aim to bring health care and education to Auroville and the bio-region around us. In recent years the focus has shifted towards community-based health services for Aurovilians. The focus is still on public health and prevention, which includes health promotion activities in Auroville and the villages.

Members and Affiliations

Team members of AV Health Services are also directly involved with developing Kailash Clinic (Integral Health Service) and also Quiet Healing Centre.

Seniors help Seniors

This is a working group in collaboration with AV Health Services, with the purpose of improving the quality of life for seniors in Auroville. Our vision is to have in every community a trained social home care worker with additional knowledge in First Aid. The expenses would be paid (petrol, food etc.)

The service will assist AV seniors in their daily life and organize help to Aurovilians, who are temporarily immobilized due to an accident or illness.

AVHS WILL CHECK WHAT KIND OF SERVICE is needed.

If necessary the existing medical home care service (Kailash Clinic) will be informed. The AVHS coordinator will find out if and how much service family, friends and employees can do and what AVHS can offer. E.g. over night stay, meal preparation, help with bath, shopping etc.

- For AV seniors: regular social visits at home for their daily needs.

- For every bedridden Aurovilian and Newcomer: social home care service.

If any senior is looking for a (volunteer) job please call us.

We would like to build up a buddy system (partners). What does this mean? If a person is living alone who is sick, weak, or is afraid of having an accident at home, they would be called by another person (their buddy). The buddy would call each morning at an agreed-upon time to see that their buddy partner is OK. For this, people who need a buddy partner or would like to be a buddy partner, can register their names with AVHS. You don't have to be a senior to join in.

The service will start as soon as possible. For more information about this program call AVHS office between 9:30 and 1 pm at: 262 2425.

Senior Transport Service

For those interested to have transport to cultural events at Bharat Nivas, Visitors Centre and SAWCHU; events/classes/lectures at Savitri Bhavan; lectures/classes at Verite; Computer Classes at New Creation, and movie nights at Town Hall and Aurelec, we are arranging a van to pick up and return home.
