Apple Mail
Scope of document – Change your auroville.org.in email account in Mail on your Apple Macintosh.
Account username / email address : username@auroville.org.in (example)
Incoming mail server : pop.auroville.org.in Port : 110
Outgoing mail server : smtp.auroville.org.in Port : 25
Alternate Outgoing mail server port : 587
(Please make sure there are no spaces or typing mistakes in your username, password or the server names)
Instructions to create a new Apple Mail setup.
Start <Mail> from Dock or the Applications folder.
(Note: If there are no other email settings or you are starting the Mail software for the first time you may skip to Step 2)
Step 1
Got to File > Add Account

Step 2 (image 2 and 2a)
Type the following,
Full Name: Full Name
Email Address: username@auroville.org.in (example)
Password : your password

Please click <Connect> as shown in image 2a. (ignore certificate warning)

Step 3
Fill in the following,
Description : username@auroville.org.in (describes your account info)
Incoming Mail Server : pop.auroville.org.in
User Name : username@auroville.org.in
Password : your password
Click <Continue>

Set / confirm the following as shown in image 3a
Authentication : Password

Fill in the following as shown in image 4
Description : username@auroville.org.in (describes your account info)
Outgoing Mail Server : smtp.auroville.org.in
Tick on (enable) ‘Use only this server’
Tick on (enable) ‘Use Authentication’
User Name : username@auroville.org.in
Password : your password
Click <Continue>

Confirm Outgoing Mail Security setting as shown in image 4a,
Authentication : Password
Click <Continue>

Account Summary should be as shown in image 5
Click <Create>

Got to Mail > Preferences

Select ‘@ Accounts’ and then select your auroville.org.in email account in the left column as shown in image 7

Click ‘Advanced’ as shown in image 8
Here you may set the following,
- Enable this account (should be ticked on if you want to send and receive email using this account)
- Include when automatically checking for new messages (should be on)
- Remove copy from server after retrieving a message (Gives you control over how long the message is stored on the server after you have downloaded it to your computer.) This setting allows you to leave a copy of the email on the server so you may download the same email on another computer or view it using webmail access through a web browser e.g. Safari or Firefox
